This pastel portrait of Jack Russell Terriers Billy and Wilbur is an unusual composition. Usually I would recommend against a portrait looking down on an animal, preferring instead to have the viewer address the subject at their eye level as this produces a more authentic portrait with plenty of eye contact. However, in this case, the reference photo really seemed to show their character and felt like a natural and charming way to capture their personalities.
