Active and agile, Collies are known the world over for their strong herding instinct and great stamina. Many varieties have been bred over the years as working, pet, sport, and show dogs. Common breeds now include: Border Collie (the best-known breed for herding sheep); Shetland Sheepdog, or ‘Sheltie’; Bearded Collie; and Old English Sheepdog.
